Community
Our parish mission includes acting as Christians in the world.
Sacred Heart is both a Church and a Parish Community. It is foremost a church, a place of worship, a place of the sharing in the body of Christ. It also is a community, one in its ambition to live as Christ taught us to live. In living as Christ wishes, we do good works for others in many ways. The organizations available to us are many and varied.
The Young Ladies Institute, an organization of Catholic women dedicated to the Christian principles of charity and love, and the Serra Club, an organization whose main goal is to foster, promote and develop appreciation of the priesthood and all ministries of religious vocations, are just two organizations that support the education of priests, and offer its members ample opportunity to participate in charitable projects. The Catholic Professional Business Club is one that gives each member an opportunity to share their faith, network, and deepen their relationship with God.
There also are many opportunities to serve the greater community at large through service organizations that Sacred Heart parishioners both support and participate in. The Layette Fund, Loaves and Fishes, Sacred Heart Community Services, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society all have in common the desire to to serve the needy and to grow spiritually.
