Christian Initiation

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

We welcome individuals who wish to develop a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ within the Catholic Church.   Adults who have not been baptized as well as those baptized in other Christian denominations are invited to explore the Catholic faith through study, reflection, worship and service. We celebrate the sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) within the Easter Vigil.   Our group meets on Monday evenings at the Parish Center at 7:30 throughout the year.

Preparation for the Baptism of Infants

Parents who seek to have their children baptized meet to review the baptism ritual and to reflect on their commitment to raise their children in the practice of faith. There are two sessions that provide opportunities to learn about the sacramental life of the Church. Infants are baptized at Mass one Sunday each month except during the Lenten season.

Preparation for Penance and Eucharist

Preparation for children seeking to receive the sacraments of Penance and Eucharist takes place within our 2 nd grade CCD program and in Sacred Heart School. Children are formally welcomed to the Lord's Table in the Easter season, usually on the third weekend in May. Preparation for the reception of Holy Communion includes parent sessions, liturgical celebrations, and a retreat for first Communicants.

Confirmation

Those preparing for confirmation meet to explore their faith journey and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. They learn about the sacramental life of our church and the pastoral life of the parish.   Both sponsors and candidates meet to discuss the nature of the Christian commitment.   Confirmation preparation includes meetings for candidates, parents and sponsors, retreats, liturgical celebrations, and service projects.
