Each December, Sacred Heart Parish participates in this project, sponsored by the Office of Women of the Diocese of San Jose. Throughout the year, over 500 layettes are distributed to needy families through Public Health Nurses in the County. Contributions of infant clothing up to size 6 months, blankets, onesies, booties, gowns, diapers, diaper bags can be left in the vestibule of the church. The Layette Program of the Diocese of San José, which provides clothing, blankets and other infant needs to poor families with newborns, was honored at the April 22, 2005 Volunteer Recognition Luncheon sponsored by the Junior League of San José (JLSJ). Held at the San José Convention Center, the event was themed to “Celebrating Success in Volunteerism” and several Catholic groups and individuals were honored. The diocesan layette committee was one of eight honorees who received Certificates of Appreciation.
