Parish Outreach
Special Collections
Each year, the parishes of the Diocese of San Jose join in support of the work of the Catholic Church on the local, national and international level. This outreach collection is taken up after Communion. It is an opportunity to give practical expression to the oneness in the Lord that is built up by our sacramental sharing in the Body and Blood of Christ. These collections are an expression of our solidarity with those in need.
The schedule of these collections for the coming fiscal year is:

Each parish is also asked to support a particular missionary group each year in the Missionary Cooperative Program. The Missionary Coop collection occurs in the Summer and is separate from World Mission Sunday in mid-October.
Additional Disaster Relief Collections are authorized by the Bishop as needed. Funds for relief in the 50 United States and U.S. territories are sent from parishes through the Diocese to Catholic Charities USA. Funds for disasters in other locales are sent from parishes through the Diocese to Catholic Relief Services.
